The boards I could quote

Wordle, on The New York Times, is a five-letter word and six guesses. Josh Wardle released it in October 2021; the Times now publishes it. Quordle asks for four words at once and gives nine guesses. Merriam-Webster acquired Quordle in January 2023. Waffle's own title is "Waffle - daily word game"; the detailed swap rules sit on the board, which I am not reprinting.

Semantle, by David Turner in January 2022, ranks guesses by semantic similarity instead of letter color. Redactle blacks out a Wikipedia article and asks you to guess words until the title is obvious. Dordle and Octordle answered on 30 September 2026 as two-word and eight-word variants; their pages did not expose a description meta tag, so I am not inventing their guess counts.

How this differs from a full list

The directory page lists every verified game. This page is only the word cluster, because that is what a search for daily word games is asking. Geography and music games are linked, not mixed into the explanations above.

What I checked

I opened the Times Wordle page, wafflegame.net, quordle.com, semantle.com, and redactle.net on 30 September 2026 and used only the sentences those sites or Wikipedia already publish. The four-word and six-try figures are from those sources, not from a memory of a screenshot.

Questions

What counts as a daily word game here?

A puzzle whose daily challenge is a hidden word or a hidden text, not a map, a song, or a crossword grid.

Is Quordle still the four-word game?

The official description I read says four words and nine guesses. Merriam-Webster has owned it since January 2023.

Where is today's Wordle word?

On the Wordle answer page, taken from the Times print-date file. Other games on this page do not have their answers copied.
